Goats Return for Fall Grazing

The West Sac Goats are winding up their fall schedule for this year as they cross Jefferson Blvd. to the Clarksburg Branch Line Trail, marking it as their final stop.

Last week, our furry firefighting friends were working at the Broderick Boat Ramp and Riverfront Trail. The City hires the goats from Blue Tent Farms twice a year: once in the fall and once in the spring, to help clear vegetation in open spaces as part of the City's fire suppression program.

Parks Operations Superintendent Jason Puopolo says the goats help maintain hard to reach areas around the city including rocky slopes along the river.

He says they'll be done with their work in the next few days. So this will be your last chance to get that goat selfie photo until the herd returns next spring!
